Parents at P.S. 145 The Bloomingdale School and Romemu have come together to raise money to help sustain P.S. 145’s asylum seeking families from Central America, South America, Ukraine and Russia, along with all of the families with students living in temporary housing, comprising 16.5% of our 460 student community.

P.S. 145 teachers and staff are taking laundry home weekly to ensure our asylum seeking students and families have clean clothes. The immediate need is for laundry vouchers. $50 will help a family pay for one month of laundry; $150 for three months. Our initial goal is $16,000. In addition to laundry, we will help provide families with hot, healthy meals and mobile phone plans as funds allow.

P.S. 145 is a Title I community public school; a high percentage of our children are economically disadvantaged. Our community is committed to ensuring that all P.S. 145 students – grades 3-K to 5 – have access to a fair, equitable, high-quality education and to help close any educational achievement gaps. We need your support to provide basic necessities for our children and families, so that they can focus on their education and live their best lives!

We hope to surpass our fundraising goal and will continue to assess the needs of P.S. 145 families living in temporary housing and help them where we can. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity.

All donations to the Asylum Seeker Relief Fund are fully tax-deductible and 100% of the funds collected will directly serve the families in need.
